Yesterday, Ivanka Trump met with members of the Community of Sant’Egidio, a social justice and anti-poverty driven group with the Catholic Church.  Ivanka hosted a roundtable discussion to speak with victims of human trafficking.  Ivanka made it her mission to hear victims’ stories about “their struggles and how they will build their lives.”

Reporters spoke with Ivanka underneath a grape arbor in the courtyard of Rome headquarters of the Sant’Egidio Community before her meeting.

She said that the African women attending the event were a testament to “strength, faith, perseverance in the face of unspeakable adversity.”

Ivanka tweeted:

“I was inspired to visit Sant’Egidio and learn about their remarkable work with survivors of human trafficking and with those still suffering”

Her words make it seem as if she is holding these meetings more for her own entertainment than anything else. What does she plan to do with all of this so-called “inspiration?”

Twitter sharply criticized her:

In all seriousness, what is she accomplishing?  Yes, she is meeting with women who have experienced true grief and evil in this world, but what is she actually doing to make a difference?

She sends these tweets that are meaningless.  She needs to sit down for a real interview and talk about the Chinese workers that she is using to run her factory like slaves.

When will that conversation happen?  We’d all like to know.

What is your reaction about this?
