This is bad news for Trump! According to CNN, former FBI Director James Comey believes Trump tried to interfere with the FBI investigation into Michael Flynn. Comey agreed to testify during his public hearing before Congress.
Reports say that Comey needed to “set the parameters of appropriate protocol very clearly” with Trump while Comey was acting FBI Director.
The New York Times reported that when asked by Trump to publicly announce Trump wasn’t under investigation, Comey advised Trump to follow proper protocol by requesting information from the Justice Department.
News broke last week that Trump privately asked Comey to “let go” of the investigation into Michael Flynn.
After Trump fired Comey, he told NBC’s Lester Holt during their interview that he intended to fire Comey regardless of Rosenstein’s memo. Then to make matters worse, he was caught bragging about the move to Russian officials in the Oval Office.
If this is all true, Trump is guilty of obstruction of justice. It will be Robert Mueller’s job as special counsel to decide.
