VP Mike Pence will deliver a commencement speech at Notre Dame this Sunday.  A group of students is taking a stand against Pence and boycotting his speech.  They plan to walk out the second he walks on stage.

The organizer of the boycott, Bryan Ricketts, estimates that between 50 and 100 students will silently walk out of the event in unison.  The expected attendance is 2,100 graduating students with their families.

The group organizing the boycott calls themselves We StaND.  They are inviting any friends and family in the audience who are anti-Pence to join their boycott.

During Pence’s time as governor, he took stands against the LGBTQ community, immigrants, and refugees.  The group of students does not agree with Pence’s views.

In their press release, they highlight the differences between Mike Pence and Pope Francis.

CNN spoke with co-organizer Luis Miranda who said, “This is not just about the numbers, but about standing up for truth. We feel that there is power in truth and hopefully there will be power in numbers that come stand up with us.”
